Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM)’s Faculty of Management sent three standout teams to compete in various categories of the International Research and Innovation Symposium and Exposition 2023 (RISE 2023). The event was held at Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia UTHM on 18 and 19 October 2023, where these three teams were the sole representatives of UTM, making their achievements even more impressive.

The teams came back with an impressive collection of medals. Competing in the “Fundamental Category”, Yao Jia Ying, Rakesh Kumar, and their mentors, Dr. Mohd Zulfabli Hasan, Dr. Teh Zaharah Yaacob, Dr. Hanini Ilyana Che Hashim, and Dr. Siti Zaleha Omain have proudly won the GOLD MEDAL with their winning project, “Campus Sustainability: Assessing the Student’s Acceptance of University Initiative Approaches Towards Sustainability”. 

In the “Commercialization Category”, UTM earned a SILVER MEDAL also through the same team lead by Dr. Teh Zaharah Yaacob. Their groundbreaking project, “I-PRO Plus Halal Audit Checklist for Halal Warehouse Compliance to MS 2400: 2019,” is set to revolutionise the way we ensure Halal compliance.

Last but not least, in the “Innovation Category”, Nur Atiqah Osman and Ainnur Liyana Mohamad Yajid, guided by the dynamic duo, Dr. Siti Zaleha Omain and Dr. Roshaslizawati Mohd. Nor, demonstrated their exceptional skills and earned a SILVER MEDAL through their project, “Toy Bricks Simulation Game Approach to Teaching Operations Management” that breathe new life into how students learn about operations management.
