In making significant contributions to national problem-solving, the Faculty of Management, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM)’s academicians are consistently innovating solutions through their research studies, showcasing a practical approach to real business challenges.
Recently, Associate Professor Dr. Noriza Mohd Jamal from the Accounting and Finance Department concluded a research project titled “Development of a Management Accounting Model for Malaysian Ministries”. Supported by the Networking Grant and funded by the Accountant General’s Department of Malaysia (AGD), the research was led by Professor Dr. Siti Nabiha Abdul Khalid of Universiti Sains Malaysia, with valuable assistance from another member, Dr. Rozaidy Mahadi of Universiti Malaysia Sabah.
The main objective of the study was to identify a suitable Management Accounting model for public sector organisations, aimed at enhancing decision-making and addressing contemporary challenges faced by Malaysian public entities. Recommendations were made to tackle the challenges of implementing Strategic Management Accounting and Reporting, aiding the effective deployment of the Management Accounting model in the Malaysian public sector.
