𝑰𝒏𝒕𝒆𝒓𝒏𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏𝒂𝒍 𝑪𝒐𝒎𝒎𝒖𝒏𝒊𝒕𝒚 𝑺𝒆𝒓𝒗𝒊𝒄𝒆 𝑳𝒆𝒗𝒆𝒓𝒂𝒈𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝑨𝑰 𝒕𝒐 𝑬𝒎𝒑𝒐𝒘𝒆𝒓 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝑶𝑲𝑼 𝑪𝒐𝒎𝒎𝒖𝒏𝒊𝒕𝒚

On 23 June 2026, an International Community Service Programme focusing on the application of Artificial Intelligence (AI) to empower the OKU (Persons with Disabilities) community was successfully conducted. This collaborative initiative involving Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Indonesia, Faculty of Management, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), Jabatan Kebajikan Masyarakat (JKM) Negeri Johor, and representatives of the OKU community.
The programme was led by Dr.Muthia Pramesti, SE, MM with team ( Dr Riani Rachmawati, A/P Dr. Anna Sakreti Nawangsari, MSi) from Universitas Indonesia and supported by researchers and academics from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (Prof. Dr. Norhayati Binti Zakuan, Prof. Madya Dr. Mahadi bin Bahari, Dr Alhamzah F. Abbas, Dr Fenitra Rakotoarisoa, Dr. Muhammad Iqbal Ar Rasyid). The initiative aimed to explore how AI-driven technologies can enhance accessibility, promote inclusion, and create meaningful opportunities for the OKU community in employment, and daily living.
A key highlight of the programme was the visit of professors from Universitas Indonesia to the Faculty of Management, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, Johor Bahru. The visit facilitated academic discussions, research networking, and knowledge-sharing sessions on emerging AI applications and their potential to address societal challenges.

The programme also included engagement sessions with officers from JKM Negeri Johor, OKU community representatives, and NGO partners. These discussions provided valuable insights into the real needs and challenges faced by the community while identifying opportunities for collaborative AI-based solutions that can contribute to greater empowerment and social participation.
Through this initiative, the participating institutions reaffirm their commitment to advancing impactful research, strengthening international partnerships, and promoting the responsible use of technology for social good.
