Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tan Owee Kowang
Tan Owee Kowang has been with Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) since 2013 and is currently an Associate Professor of Management at the Faculty of Management. He holds a PhD in Management, a Master’s degree in Technology Management, and a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia. He has accumulated more than 20 years of industrial experience in New Product Development, Operations, and Quality Management. He spent the first 10 years of his career with a Japanese cable manufacturing company, where he developed over 30 new AC power cables and power cord sets. He then continued for another 10 years with a UK-based home appliance company, contributing to the development of more than 20 new home appliances. He is a Certified Technologist with the Malaysia Board of Technologists (MBOT), a Fellow Member of The International Institute of Engineers and Researchers (THEIIEE), and a member of the Board of Engineers Malaysia (BEM), the Production and Operations Management Society (POMS), and the International Society for Development and Sustainability (ISDS). His research interests include Operation Management, Lean Six Sigma, New Product Development, Quality, Engineering, and Project Management. He has authored more than 100 publications.
