Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tan Owee Kowang
Tan Owee Kowang is an Associate Professor of Management at Universiti Teknologi Malaysia. He holds a PhD in Management, a Master in Technology Management and a Bachelor in Mechanical Engineering from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia. He acquired more than 20 years of industrial experience in the areas of New Product Development, Operation and Quality Management. He spent the first 10 years of his career in the industry with a Japanese cable manufacturing company and developed over 30 new AC power cables and power cord sets, and continued the next 10 years at a UK home appliance company where he was involved in the development of over 20 new home appliances. He is the Certified Technologist of the Malaysia Board of Technologist (MBOT), Fellow Member of The International Institute of Engineers and Researchers (THEIIEE); member of Board of Engineer, Malaysia (BEM), Production and Operations Management Society (POMS) and International Society for Development and Sustainability (ISDS). His areas of research interest are New Product Development management, Lean Six Sigma, Operation, Quality, Engineering and Projects management.
