Heartiest congratulations to Dr. Mohd Khairulnizam Zahari from Alor Setar, Kedah, who was honoured with the Malaysia Technology Development Corporation (MTDC) Innovation Excellence Award at the Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM)’s 67th Convocation for his outstanding contributions through his PhD research.

Dr. Khairulnizam’s decision to undertake a PhD at the Faculty of Management UTM was influenced by the faculty’s strong research initiatives, encompassing a variety of workshops and experienced academicians and supervisors, as well as the effective mentorship he received during his Master’s studies. His PhD thesis, titled “The Viable Supply Chain Management Practices and Company Sustainability During  COVID-19 Pandemic,” shed light on the significant vulnerabilities of global supply chains exposed by the pandemic. His research stressed the necessity for manufacturing companies to adapt and bolster 

resilience in their supply chain management to effectively handle future crises. Dr. Khairulnizam advocated for continuous efforts to enhance the viability and flexibility of supply chains. Confronting unique challenges during the COVID-19 pandemic,including limited interactions due to government-imposed Movement Control Orders(MCO), Dr. Khairulnizam demonstrated remarkable resilience and perseverance. His success is attributable to his strategic planning, disciplined approach, consistent daily work on his thesis, 

and effective communication with his supervisor, Associate Professor Dr. Norhayati Zakuan. During his doctoral studies, Dr. Khairulnizam has an impressive record of academic publications. He successfully published four articles in high-impact journals, contributing valuable insights to the field of sustainable supply chain. These publications reflect his dedication and the depth of his research, further solidifying his standing in the academic community.
