The following day on 27 November 2023, at Tokyo Metropolitan University (TMU), UTM’s accounting students delved into the complexities of financial markets and Malaysia’s financial reporting standards. Dr. Nor Zafir Mohd Salleh from UTM and Dr. Masayoshi Noguchi from TMU led the discussions, highlighting Japan’s Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) system and the impact of human capital management on corporate value. The visit, marked by knowledge exchange and cultural immersion, was further enhanced by a delightful lunch hosted by TMU.
Finally, on 29 November 2023, the focus shifted to Ibaraki University. Here, UTM’s management students presented on the operation management and consumer behaviour topics. Dr. Nor Zafir Mohd Salleh and Professor Yayoi Haraguchi spearheaded the discourse, with Assistant Professor Hitomi Toyosaki addressing workplace gender equality.

In an enriching global outbound program, a group of 19 students lead by Dr. Ma Kalthum Ishak from the Faculty of Management UTM (FM) embarked on a memorable educational and cultural exchange journey to Japan.
At Tsukuba University on 26 November 2023, FM delegates shared their experiences and knowledge when conducting diverse projects from integrated marketing communication plans for Iskandar Malaysia Studio to tackling real-world challenges at EPSON Sdn. Bhd. The students had truly demonstrated their academic brilliance and exceptional ability to apply theoretical knowledge on management to real-world scenarios.

Beyond papers, this Lacuna 2023 program has deepened the delegates’ understanding of systems and cultures. This remarkable experience has paved the way for a global research network, leaving a lasting mark of academic excellence and fostering a spirit of international collaboration. Well done, everyone!
