Dr. Umar Haiyat Abdul Kohar
Umar Haiyat Abduk Kohar completed his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) Shah Alam and a Ph.D. degree from RMIT University, Australia. His research interests are in the area of entrepreneurship education and innovation management. In 2016, he was selected by the Malaysia Global Innovation & Creativity Centre (MaGIC) to attend the ‘MaGIC-Stanford Faculty-Train-Faculty Exposure Program’ at Stanford University, California. In 2020, he has been certified as a digital entrepreneurship trainer by Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC). For the past five years, he also actively involved in research consultancy activities with the Ministry of Science, Technology, and Innovation (MOSTI) and the Ministry of Human Resources (MoHR) in the area of SMEs innovation and human capital issues (consultancy grants totaling over RM1.3 million; RM585k as a project leader). He is now seconded to UTM Centre for Student Innovation and Technology Entrepreneurship (UTM XCITE) as a deputy director since November 2017.
