7th January 2025 โ€“ Faculty of Management UTM hosted the โ€œHealthy Steps: Stroke & Diabetes Awarenessโ€ event as part of the Healthcare Marketing course under the Bachelor of Management (Marketing) with Honours program. Led by course lecturer ๐——๐—ฟ. ๐—ก๐—ผ๐—ฟ๐˜‡๐—ฎ๐—ถ๐—ฑ๐—ฎ๐—ต๐˜„๐—ฎ๐˜๐—ถ, the initiative was a collaboration between UTM and KPJ Hospital Bandar Datoโ€™ Onn, aimed at raising awareness about the growing concerns of stroke and diabetes within the UTM community.
With the increasing prevalence of these health conditions affecting the well-being of many, the event sought to educate attendees on prevention, early detection, and management of stroke and diabetes. By partnering with KPJ Hospital Bandar Datoโ€™ Onn, the project also served as a platform to promote the hospitalโ€™s specialized healthcare services.
The event featured a range of health screenings and interactive sessions, including ECG tests, dietitian consultations, CPR and AED demonstrations, and breast cancer examinations. These activities provided participants with hands-on experience and valuable health insights.

A highlight of the event was the engaging speaker sessions conducted by three esteemed professionals from KPJ Bandar Datoโ€™ Onn:
1. Dr. Fadri Abdullah delivered a comprehensive talk on stroke awareness, discussing symptoms, risks and preventive measures.
2. Dr. Ahmad Adli shared valuable insights on diabetes management, emphasizing early detection and lifestyle modifications to prevent complications.
3. Ms Nabihah provided an overview of KPJ Bandar Datoโ€™ Onnโ€™s healthcare facilities and services, giving attendees a better understanding of the hospitalโ€™s medical offerings.
The Healthy Steps: Stroke & Diabetes Awareness event successfully combined education and community engagement, reflecting UTMโ€™s commitment to holistic student development and public health awareness. The initiative not only benefited students and faculty but also strengthened collaborations between academia and healthcare institutions, fostering a culture of health-conscious living.
