The programme was organised by π’‡π’Šπ’π’‚π’-π’šπ’†π’‚π’“ 𝒔𝒕𝒖𝒅𝒆𝒏𝒕𝒔 π’‡π’“π’π’Ž 𝒕𝒉𝒆 π‘«π’†π’‘π’‚π’“π’•π’Žπ’†π’π’• 𝒐𝒇 π‘΄π’‚π’π’‚π’ˆπ’†π’Žπ’†π’π’• & π‘»π’†π’„π’‰π’π’π’π’π’ˆπ’š, assisted by Dr. Mohd Zulfabli Hasan, under the Project Management course. The initiative aimed to promote awareness of sustainable organic waste management, educate the community on composting techniques and waste segregation, and produce compost for use in school landscaping and community gardens.
The programme involved 30 𝒔𝒕𝒖𝒅𝒆𝒏𝒕𝒔 from SK Taman Mutiara Rini Officialas the target group and consisted of activities conducted before, during, and after the composting workshop. Participants were exposed to hands-on learning experiences, starting from understanding organic waste and proper waste segregation to the preparation of compost that can be reused by the community.

Community feedback was highly positive, with participants demonstrating increased awareness of the importance of proper waste management and expressing their intention to continue composting practices in their daily lives. The programme also contributed to reducing organic waste sent to landfills and strengthened collaboration between the university, community, and government agencies towards sustainable living.
This initiative aligns with SDG 2, SDG 11, SDG 12, SDG 13, and SDG 15, reflecting UTM’s commitment to driving sustainable and inclusive community development.
