Congratulations – Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) strengthens its visibility on the global stage!
Two teams comprised of Faculty of Management UTM and Faculty of Computing, UTM students emerged as Top 10 finalists and winners of the Excellence Award in the prestigious Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University (XJTLU) Global Entrepreneurial Dream-Chasers Competition 2023 held in Taicang, Suzhou, China on 20 December 2023! This is truly a remarkable achievement for Universiti Teknologi Malaysia.
The idea for Nexus EmoCare Therapy Box originated from the final year Marketing students at the Faculty of Management guided by their lecturer, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Thoo Ai Chin. They proposed a unique mental health therapy tool that aims to provide accessible, personalised mental health support and promote economic growth.
Both teams demonstrated exceptional creativity, strategic planning, and societal awareness. Their achievements reflect not only their hard work but also UTM’s dedication to fostering impactful entrepreneurship and innovation in its graduates. Well done, all!
The competition, which received 114 submissions from around the world, aims to boost innovation and entrepreneurship pitching, with a focus on societal benefits, creative technologies, and future business possibilities. The winning teams, Nexus EmoCare Therapy Box and ZipTech Drone for Farming, had remarkable business strategies that captured the judges’ interest and set them apart from the global competition.
The ZipTech Drone for Farming, mentored by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Zuraidah Sulaiman, also from the Faculty of Management, was a collaborative idea between students from UTM and ATU-Net: Asia Technological University Network institutions. A drone has been developed for precision farming, aiming to address inefficiencies in traditional methods, thereby addressing cost, safety, and labor issues.
