Work-Based Learning (WBL) at Iskandar Malaysia Studios 🎥🎬 Some fun film production and studio exposure!
On June 1 2023, a work-based learning programme was organized by 30 Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) students undertaking the Integrated Marketing Communication (SBSF2023 – 01) class of Bachelor of Management (Marketing).
IMS was thoroughly walked through and toured by Mr. Geoffrey, and following this, a full explanation were shared on IMS business strategies and how a film production and studio naturally work together to create a fantastic film.
All in all, it was a fun and fruitful day – The program goals were met; to analyze the marketing tactics used by IMS, and to provide students a better grasp of marketing strategies and how to tweak them to appeal to a wider audience.

The Faculty of Management Marketing Lecturer, Mr. Ahmad Sharifuddin Shamsuddin, supervised this WBL programme which was a partnership between the Faculty and the Iskandar Malaysia Studio (IMS), Iskandar Puteri Johor, under the direction of Mr. Geoffrey, IMS Head of Business Development Division.
The program’s director, Mr. Muhammad Al-Imran Bin Mustaqeem (Second Year Marketing), asserts that students were given the opportunity to learn about and experience the film and production industries firsthand. The visit was also a chance to acquire important insights into the both front-end and back-end of house operations, marketing, and logistics of a movie studio.
