Prof. Dr. Nanthakumar Loganathan
Nanthakumar Loganathan is a Professor of Economics with more than 20 years of academic experience in public universities. University of Technology Malaysia (UTM) has been his place of employment since 2016. His doctorate degree (PhD) is in Economics from Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), Master’s degree in Economics from National University of Malaysia (UKM), and Bachelor’s Degree in Economics from University of Malaya (UM). The main focus of his current research is on applied time series econometrics that are related to development economics, tourism economics, environmental and resource economics, and labor economics. He has written many scholarly journal articles and was appointed as an invited reviewer for various scholarly journals worldwide. He has been involved in policy-impactful and community involvement projects with international organizations up to this point (World Health Organization Projects-WHO), national projects (LRGS, FRGS, TRGS, RAGS, e-science fund) and consultancy projects (PETRONAS, PERKESO, CIMB Bank, IRDA, KEJORA etc.). The establishment of the National Rural Development Policy 2030 and his responsibility for Rural Infrastructure Development policies are among his iconic contributions. Almost 20 international postgraduate students from Iran, Libya, China, Nigeria, the United Emirates, and Saudi Arabia have been under his supervision. The REPEC ranking has ranked him among the top 25% of economists in Malaysia. At the institutional level, he was recognized for his contributions to social science and publishing, which include the highly cited social scientist award and high impact publication awards. He has also been honored with publication awards from reputable publishers and high-impact journal publications as a writer and reviewer He has also been appointed as a proposal assessor for the Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE) and the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI), and as a visiting professor and research fellow worldwide.
