In the changing landscape of education during the Fourth Industrial Revolution (IR 4.0), the Cornerstone Project Symposium organised by the Department of Management and Technology, Faculty of Management, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) on 31 December 2023 stood out as a significant step forward. Notable contributors to the symposium included Assoc. Prof. Ts. Dr. Norhayati Zakuan, Dr. Mohd Zulfabli Hasan, Dr. Erialdi Syahrial and industry representatives.

The Cornerstone Project Symposium transformed students into adept problem solvers, critical thinkers, and innovators. On this occasion, the symposium focused on three main subjects: Manufacturing Technology, Supply Chain Management, and Quality Management, offering a well-rounded learning experience where students were encouraged to explore hands-on activities, foster innovation, and collaborate effectively.
In Manufacturing Technology, students created prototypes for new products, refining technical skills and nurturing creativity. Quality Management then used the Quality Function Deployment (QFD) method to ensure products met or exceeded industry standards. Finally, Supply Chain Management challenged students to secure suppliers for prototype components, providing a real-world simulation and fostering collaboration and strategic thinking.
